Josephine MacNeil (Josie) 

82, Bedford, NS passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 1, 2023, at the Infirmary Site, QEII. Mom was the daughter of the late Michael Kliza and Margaret Chisholm. She was born December 23, 1940, in New Waterford, Nova Scotia. She attended Nova Scotia Teachers college and was a schoolteacher in several provinces across Canada, and in her later years went back to school to obtain her CNA and was employed for many years at the Nova Scotia Hospital. She took great pride in her family and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. Mom enjoyed staying in touch with her immediate and extended family online, never missing a birthday or special holiday with a card or a note. She enjoyed staying active through dancing, walking, and bowling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed lifelong learning to keep her mind sharp. Mom is survived by her four children Alison O’Neil (Shaun), Paul (Amy), Jennifer Moore (Steven), Steven (Tracey); grandchildren Gregory, Megan, Sarah, Kristen, Ryan, Matthew, Laura, Hannah, Jenna, Bradley, and Kayley; siblings Michael (Marilyn) Kliza, Francis (Shannon-Lee) Kliza, and Colin (Kristen) Chisholm as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, John, a grandson, Zachary, in infancy, her parents, and stepfather, Colin (Chick) Chisholm. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment to be held in New Waterford at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
