It is with great sadness we share that Peter Franklyn
Veinotte, age 65 of Blockhouse, died on June 15, 2024, at home.
Born December 7, 1958, Peter was the son of the late Franklyn and
June (Slauenwhite) Veinotte.
A lifelong resident of
Blockhouse, Peter grew up in a time where everyone was expected to
pitch in and help each other, a value he always upheld. He was never
afraid of hard work. As a child, he showed an affinity for working
with various equipment, like the tractor on his
grandparent’s farm, and the machinery in the family-owned
sawmill. He had a natural talent for working with machines and
mechanical systems, and spent over 20 years working in Lunenburg as a
Red Seal automotive mechanic after graduating from Lunenburg Regional
Vocational School in 1979.
Peter had quick-wit, quite the
sense of humour and a "tell it like it is" attitude. He
lived life on his own terms, demonstrating a strong will even as his
health declined, showing us all the power of his determination (or,
perhaps, stubbornness). He will be missed.
He is survived
by daughter Lindsay (Mark), Cole Harbour; son Kyle (Vanessa),
Blockhouse; granddaughters Aurora and Brielle Shears; sisters Debbie
(Darrell) Dorey and Cathy (Norman) Lohnes; former wife, Debbie
Veinotte.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by
sister, Susan Levy.
Family and friends are invited to
share their memories of Peter at an informal gathering at his
residence on Sunday, June 30th from 1 – 3 PM. Memorial
donations may be to The Lodge that Gives or the Canadian Cancer
Society.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to
everyone who supported Peter and showed him dignity throughout his
illness.
Arrangements are under the direction of the R.A.
Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line donations may be made by
visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
